They should be close to a busy road and clearly visible. The properties must not be subject to leasehold rights or lease contracts.

- Hypermarket: size of plot from 15,000 to 25,000 m² / catchment area from 50,000 inhabitants
- DIY centre with garden centre: size of plot from 20,000 to 50,000 m² / catchment area from 50,000 inhabitants
- Garden centre: size of plot from 10,000 to 20,000 m² / catchment area from 50,000 inhabitants
- Specialist retail market: size of plot from 3,000 to 15,000 m² / catchment area from 30,000 inhabitants
- Fast-food restaurant: size of plot from 3,000 to 6,000 m² / catchment area from 20,000 inhabitants
